TELEPHONE SCAM

SCAM ALERT- UTILITY DISCONNECTIONS

The Black River Falls Municipal Utilities (BRFMU) has been aware of a telephone scam (calls and text messages) which threaten immediate disconnection due to past-due balances.  THIS IS A SCAM! BRFMU will never ask customers to make an immediate payment over the telephone or via text message to avoid disconnection.  Those who receive the call should not provide any personal or banking information!!  BRFMU asks that everyone help us spread the word.

BRFMU has a process in place to notify customers of past-due charges.  We mail letters to residents, landlords, and business owners with the past-due amounts and the steps they can take to avoid an interruption of their utility services.  We will continue every effort to work with our customers on payment arrangements.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this scam or your utility account, please call BRFMU at 715-284-9463.  Thank you for your help in spreading the word about this telephone scam.
