Black River Falls Municipal Utilities is the locally owned and operated electric and water utility, serving 2,350 customers in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. We strive to provide low-cost, reliable service with a friendly, personal touch. After all, we are your friends and neighbors who share your values and understand your needs. That’s what makes a local, community-owned utility a valuable asset to citizens and the community.
Black River Falls Municipal Utilities was founded 104 years ago – by the citizens of Black River Falls. The community’s early founders voted to establish their own city-owned utility.
While much has changed, the focus of Black River Falls Municipal Utilities has not. Today, we still offer our residents some of the lowest electric rates in Wisconsin - rates significantly lower than those in territories that are served by investor-owned utilities.
We also provide our customers with clean, high-quality water that meets or exceeds all state and federal standards. And, as part of the community,
we afford our citizens a voice in our decisions and programs.
The Project Has Begun!
The water levels have been decreased roughly 14 feet, and construction of the coffer dam has begun.
There are many Black River Falls residents who have never seen the water at this low level and have expressed an interest in getting a better look at the work being done.
In an effort to keep you informed, this historic dam rebuilding project will be documented and shared with you as much as possible on this site. A construction camera has been placed to view the work area and is available for everyone to view from the OxBlue website.
As always, if you have any questions regarding this project please contact the Black River Falls Municipal Utility office at 715-284-9463.
